Miss Menuka – Sound Desinger
The story follows Menuka, a sex worker who becomes the only witness to a violent incident
involving Arvind Paswan, an innocent young man from Nepal’s marginalized Madhesi Dalit
community. After the incident, Bibek, the son of a powerful politician, pressures Menuka to give
a false statement accusing Paswan of sexual assault in order to protect those truly responsible.
At first, Menuka refuses to betray the truth. However, faced with intimidation, manipulation,
social stigma, and political pressure, she is gradually pushed toward a decision that goes against
her conscience. As guilt begins to consume her, Menuka struggles to reclaim her sense of justice
and ultimately risks her own safety in an attempt to protect Paswan from an angry mob
determined to punish an innocent man. Through this deeply personal story, the play explores
how power, prejudice, and communal discrimination influence the justice system and shape
people’s lives.
